![]() Animated series from Marvel Studios are produced by Marvel Studios Animation, with the phases also including Marvel Studios Special Presentation television specials. At least five series and two continuing seasons are expected in Phase Five beginning in 2023, with at least six series and two continuing seasons also in development. The first of these series premiered in January 2021, as part of the franchise's Phase Four, with seven more having also been released, concluding in October 2022. Marvel Studios-the production studio behind the films-began developing their own series in 2018 for the streaming service Disney+. Young adult-focused series were produced for Freeform and Hulu, while the latter also had a group of series called " Adventure into Fear" planned before Marvel Television was shut down in December 2019. A connected group of series for Netflix were called the "Marvel Knights" series, and crossed over with each other. The main ABC series were inspired by the films and featured film characters, and were referred to as the "Marvel Heroes" series. These premiered across broadcast, streaming, and cable respectively on ABC, Netflix and Hulu, and Freeform. The MCU first expanded to television after the creation of Marvel Television in 2010, with that studio producing 12 series with ABC Studios and its production division ABC Signature Studios from September 2013 to October 2020. They are set in, or inspired by, the shared universe of the MCU film franchise. If not, then there'll surely be hell to pay. ![]() The only problem is that Marvel's strategy with The Defenders didn’t quite live up to its promise and if they do aim to set the Spirits of Vengeance up in a similar way, then the studio will need to learn from their mistakes. The Daywalker helped lead the way for what would eventually become the biggest movie franchise on the planet, so it's only fitting that Blade should return to our screens now that Marvel are branching out in a whole new direction.Īs we mentioned, some of Marvel's most famous anti-heroes like Venom and Morbius are tied up with Sony right now, but there are plenty of other contenders who could still fill out the ranks further, including Man-Thing, Sleepwalker and Moon Knight, a hero who's already failed to reach our screens on no less than five separate occasions.Īlong with other scary projects such as Swamp Thing, Brightburn and (maybe) New Mutants, horror seems to be the way forward for the superhero genre and it looks like Marvel will lead the charge with their own spooky line-up on Hulu. If that's true, then Blade could finally return to our screens as well, presuming of course that Ghost Rider and Helstrom turn out to be successful. They're already doing something similar with an animated team-up called The Offenders on Hulu, so this would hardly be a stretch for them. Given that these first two shows will introduce three members of the team all at once, it seems likely that Marvel and Hulu are aiming to replicate the Defenders model, introducing a range of supernatural heroes who will eventually team up to form the Spirits of Vengeance. Although Glyph isn't officially a member of the team, her ability to summon ancient spirits certainly wouldn't feel out of place among these misfits either. ![]() In the comics, Hellstrom and Ghost Rider fight alongside other creepy heroes including Blade and Damian's sister, Satana, in a group known as the Spirits of Vengeance. ![]()
